The
author, Louis J. G. Gooren, reviews the relevant current literature
on the subject. He goes on to outline detailed treatment recommendations

in individuals with a predisposing family history and the rare
incidence of prolactin producing tumors. |

Natural
Progesterone and Women's Health |
In
order to accurately evaluate the effects of estrogen and Natural
Progesterone, on Menopause, PMS, Fertility, and Osteoporosis,
it is necessary to identify the sources of these two primary female
hormones. Distinguishing safe and natural progesterone and estrogens
from those that are foreign and carcinogenic will allow women
to make informed choices. This
information will help them to avoid the unwanted effects oflow
or no progesterone (Estrogen Dominance) and the subsequent unpleasant
symptoms associated with Menopause & PMS, the conditions of
infertility & osteoporosis. Other major disorders, including
breast cancer, stroke, osteoporosis & heart disease are also
caused by improper levels of estrogen and progesterone. |

A
great deal has been said about online pharmacies. There are few that
are reliable or who carry a complete range of medications for fast delivery
without any necessary prescriptions. All of those below are super site
pharmacies offering very large ranges of products including hormones.
All take credit cards and all despatch medications in plain wrapping
for total confidentiality. NONE REQUIRE A PRESCRIPTION
The
Hormone Boutique |
In
association with and administered by Pharmacy Network International
this is an integrated "hormone only" Pharmacy on this
website. Here you will find most hormones and anti androgens available
for online purchase. No prescriptions are required and the service

totally geared for gender change products.
This
online Hormone Boutique is brought to you and administered by
Pharmacy Network International who are absolutely reputable and
the only internet pharmacy recommended by Crissy Wild. Crissy

medical guidance even though no prescriptions are required to
purchase any of these products. These medications are the real
thing and not mimics or phyto estrogens and should be approached
with respect. If you are interested in the full range of over
400 pharmacy prescription medications or for any medication not

James Bellringer was trained in Gender
Reassignment Surgery by Mike Royle from Brighton UK. He now works at
Charing Cross Hospital in London, and is happy to offer both NHS and
private operations. In addition to using the peno-scrotal flap technique
employed by Mr. Royle, he has developed a penile inversion technique.
Whilst this technique is not possible in all patients it gives a larger
capacity vagina than penoscrotal flap in most cases, and avoids the
problem of hair growth in the neo vagina. Both techniques are discussed
fully with all patients prior to surgery. In addition, for patients
who do not wish to have a functional vagina, a "cosmetic"
procedure can be performed.

scientists from all over the world. In common with most such journals,
it consists of writings about trans people, with our own

| A
wonderful site ... with the full text of all issues of the BMJ since
January 1995, with a powerful and easy-to-use search engine. Nicely
laid out, with minimal graphics and clean HTML. |
The

|
Even
though we are increasingly winning legal recognition and improvements
in our civil status in many countries around the world, there is still
widespread ignorance of the oppressive and stigmatising terms on which
we can gain access to medicine. Sexual stereotyping, humiliating and
time-wasting "assessment", psychiatric control (and sometimes abuse)
are all a part of the path faced by all trans people.
To understand how and why these structures arose, and how the try reading
some of the references below on medical and psychiatric approaches to
trans people ... and be prepared for a long catalogue of social control
masquerading as protecting the individual: long after gay and lesbian
people have shaken off the label, trans people are still classified
as "mentally disordered".
The
Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association |
HBIGDA
is a American-based professional association of those involved
in providing medical care to trans people. Its so-called "Standards
of Care" are widely cited as guidelines ... and widely condemned
for their restrictions on trans people, for their relentless pathologisation,
and for the failure to recommend any protectionagainst psychiatric
abuse. The most recent (1998) version of the standards
of care is
available on this website, and includes the clear statement that
"The Gender Identity Disorders are Mental Disorders". Thanks a
bunch, folks. |
"The
Disparate Classification of Gender and Sexual Orientation in USA
Psychiatry" |
by
Katherine K. Wilson, of the Gender Identity Center of Colorado.
"In 1973, the Board of Trustees of the American Psychiatric Association
voted to delete homosexuality as a mental disorder from the seventh
printing of the second edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM-II. Twenty-three years later,
the inclusion of diagnostic categories for Gender Identity Disorder
and Transvestic Fetishism in the fourth edition of the DSM continues
to raise questions of consistency. In this paper, issues of gender
identity and sexual orientation are compared in light of current
definitions of mental disorder." |
Science
A
Sex Difference in the Brain |
Transgendered
people should not have to rely on the scientific evidence of a
microscopic part of their brains in order to lay claim to the
same common rights as others. We exist in sufficient numbers,
all recounting similar histories, and it shouldn't be necessary
to establish why we exist in order to accept the fact that we
do. Nevertheless, this piece of research, published in the Autumn
of 1996 has probably done more than any other medical contribution
to undermine the psychiatric labelling of us, and turn the tide
of opinion towards an acceptance of transsexual peoples' imperatives.

LASER
HAIR REMOVAL
I have had many emails regarding Laser treatments. Do they work
? - well yes and no. I can only recommend the Alexandrite Laser
and there are a number of clinics offering laser hair removal
but not necessarily with the Alexandrite Laser - many of these
other systems do not give permanent results despite the claims.
No laser yet that I know of will permanently remove fair or blonde
hair. The best Alexandrite machine is "The Candella GentleLase"
and the reason is that it has cryogenic gas cooling which means
that unlike other machines it can operate up to 40 jules power
without burning you to pieces. Lasers without cryogenic gas cooling
can only operate safely at half that power and you still may get
burned - so be careful. I shall be doing a feature on this shortly.
Any business's or individuals dealing with hair removal that may
be currently referred to in this section are NOT specifically
approved of by me unless actually stated. |

T
& T epilation in North Essex UK have two major advantages
- one is that they use the Plasma Lite system described below
and two; one of the partners is a TG.
PLASMA
LITE HAIR REMOVAL
Plasma lite is a relatively new system - developed I believe in
Sweden and not to be confused with lasers which have been around
for some time. It is claimed that during a course of treaments
plasma lite will remove all types of hair (dark & blonde)
with no major risk of burning. It passes an intense light down
the hair shaft which then effectively kills the folicle. There
is one such system operating near me in Bucks and whilst I have
seen it - I have never tried it. If anyone has any reports please
email me.

The
Gender Trust |
Excellent
TG Resource - Help - Info - Counselling - etc
The Gender Trust is the only Registered Charity in the U.K. which
specifically helps adults who are Transsexual, Gender Dysphoric
or Transgenderist: i.e. those who seek to adjust their
lives to live as women or men, or to come to terms with their
situation despite their genetic background. We also help those
who are Intersexes, and try to provide care for the partners
and families of all these individuals. We are able to provide
trained counsellors, psychologists and psychotherapists,
and if required we can initiate the proper referal procedure to
a choice of psychiatrists.
The
Gender Trust provides confidential care within the guidelines
of the British Association of Counsellors. It works closely with
the Beaumont
Trust
which,
with the help of our members, provides a Telephone Helpline.
THE NATIONAL HELP LINE is available on
07000 790347
Office Telephone 01273 234024
PO Box 3192 BN1 3WR UK
Reg. Charity no:1088150
The
Trust has a membership society (GEMS) for those who seek information,
befriending or referral for counselling. GEMS is a non profit
making Self-Help Organisation and includes Associates who join
for information or as helpers.
GEMS
members
receive a quarterly
magazine and
there is a Confidential
Contact System with
regional
officers as
contacts. This self-help element of The Gender Trust does
all it can to provide information, care and a balanced view. Surgery
is not always the only solution, and the main enemy is isolation.
There is a high suicide rate among transsexuals and much
distress and dismay within their families. Prejudice, ignorance
and fear all take their toll.
Membership of GEMS includes a free copy of 'A Gender
Trust Guide to Transsexualism, Transgenderism and Gender Dysphoria',
though this can be obtained by non-members for £ 8.00
inc. p & p from the address on the publications
page,
or ordered from libraries or bookshops (ISBN 1 873049
04 8). The Guide addresses in detail the problems both
of transsexuals and their loved ones. |

in 1966 the Beaumont Society is the World's largest membership
organisation for Transvestites & Transsexuals. Based in the

and small private donations. It offers a wide variety of activities
including: Weekend Reunions, Make-Up finishing schools and a national

The

Press
for Change is a political lobbying and educational organisation,
which campaigns to achieve equal civil rights and liberties for
all transsexual and transgendered people in the United Kingdom,
through legislation and social change.
A
sea change in public understanding in recent years has meant that
nowadays it's rarely necessary to explain to people that transsexuality
is an internationally recognised condition, and not a form of
sexual or political rebellion. Yet few people actually appreciate
that over the last 30-40 years, more than 5,000 people in Britain
have successfully transitioned between the genders ... for the
simple reason that most of them have blended invisibly into ordinary
society. More importantly though, only a very small number of
people are really aware of the needless and damaging bureaucratic
obstinacy that such people face during and after their transition,
and the fact that this quiet and invisible group of people are
among the most cruelly discriminated of all citizens in the United
Kingdom.
Here
you can learn about the problems which UK trans people continue
to face, since a divorce case in 1970 branded us as non-people
... and our successes in reversing a state of law which can only
be described as ignorant, fearful and spiteful.

on care, support and therapy, the aim is to be person-centred.
In other words, categories whether political or medical

but as survivors of their gender identity difficulties.
To this end, the network produces a quarterly journal, and
holds biennial conferences, the next one being in Autumn

GIRES
|
Gender
Identity Research and Education Society - A UK Charity No:1068137
GIRES was founded in October 1997 by ten activists then working
for Press for Change. It obtained registration with the Charity
Commission in February 1998. The founding members and the Charity
Commission agreed that the charity's objectives are to advance
education into gender identity and intersex issues.
GIRES
therefore: Initiates, promotes and supports research particularly
to address the needs of those in whom there is a strong and ongoing
desire to live and be accepted in the gender, although it be different
to that assigned at birth, in which they identify; Publishes
the outcome of such research and other relevant information in
order to inform interested parties and the general public; Enables
the public to achieve a wider understanding of these issues and
thereby provide equal treatment within society of those whom they
affect.
Charitable status makes GIRES eligible for grants from other charitable
bodies and able to reclaim tax from the Inland Revenue on much
of its income from individuals. Although, as a registered charity,
GIRES is not permitted to undertake political campaigning on behalf
of the trans community, it can and does legitimately educate politicians
and government officials.

An
exhaustive library of medical papers delivered by some of the
most eminent specialist MD's in The World concerning transsexualism,
causes, effects etc . Some very interesting theory here as well.
We
are very pleased to present the first issue of the International
Journal of Transgenderism (IJT). This electronic journal will
be an important vehicle for the transmission of scholarly work
in the area of transgenderism. We are at an exciting point in
history where the interest in the study of transgenderism is keen
and quite a bit of scholarly activity is being produced. The study
of transgenderism is rapidly expanding both in quantity and in
breadth. We are learning more about transgenderism from an interdisciplinary
and intercultural perspective, from vast new knowledge from psychological
and biomedical studies of gender identity, and from anthropological,
socio-cultural and historical studies. We feel that this journal
will be an important source of information and exchange of ideas
from this perspective throughout the world.

Gender
PAC |
 |
An
important US lobbying group, working for gender civil rights.
Activities include: "Congressional education and advocacy,
National Gender Lobby Days, the In-Your-Face! online news
service, anti-violence work, anti-defamationwork, community-based
research, public relations, field mobilization, grassroots
education, and legal advocacy".
The
Mission and Vision
GenderPAC is the national advocacy organization working
to ensure every American's right to their gender free from
stereotypes, discrimination and violence, regardless of
how they look, act or dress or how others perceive their
sex or sexual orientation.
We are especially concerned with the way discrimination
based on gender intersects with other kinds of discrimination,
including those of race, class, ethnicity, and age.
GenderPAC believes that gender ought to be protected as
a basic civil right, and we look forward to the day when
it is universally respected and recognized as such.
The
Work
We focus on:
Congressional Advocacy
Education
Gender Law/Impact Litigation
Civil
Rights
GenderPAC is committed to "civil rights," protected by laws
that help stop gender-based hate crimes and job discrimination.
We are also committed to "social rights," that help stop
unfair and defamatory media portrayals, give our children
the right to choose and express their gender, and promote
respect and gender diversity at home, at school, in the
workplace, and in public space.
Gender
"Gender" includes how we look, act, or dress, and others'
interpretation of our sex or sexual orientation.
Thus we use "gender" in the most inclusive sense
including transgender, as well as sexual orientation, because
we believe the mainspring of homophobia is gender, i.e.,
the prejudice that gay men are insufficiently masculine
or lesbian women necessarily inadequately feminine. And
we also include sex and sexism, because we believe the basis
for misogyny is our culture's devaluation and derision of
femininity and vulnerability.
Constituency
GenderPAC is committed to achieving gender rights for all.
This means we organize around the common issue of gender
rights, rather than representing any single identity or
constituency. We believe that all of us, at some time or
another, are harassed, shamed, or made to feel afraid because
of our gender. Therefore we believe gender is too basic
to be left to any single group, and too fundamental to leave
anyone behind.
This form of organizing, sometimes called "post-identity
polticial" or "issue-based organizing" means that while
respecting how individuals identify, we work on bringing
people together for the common work of achieving gender
rights. GenderPAC believes this is the best way to build
a strong, broad-based, and inclusive movement to secure
gender civil rights.
Intersections
GenderPAC is especially sensitive to how other kinds of
discrimination intersect with those of gender, for instance
those of race, class, ethnicity, and ability. GenderPAC
believes those connections are integral to a gender rights
movement, and we seek to stress those connections when and
where they occur. |
