25 Years on and still just going

This page is fast turning into a blog! It is hard to keep up with the fast changing events at the Philbeach. Anyway dear James (Jimmy) is BACK! Hurrah.

"Sadly all good things change and Jimmys bar is no exception. After a little tiff (for reasons totally unclear) between Mr Tom the owner of the Philbeach hotel and Jimmy who had put the place on the map over 25 years, Jimmy was banned from his own bar! Dreadful.. Anyway the bar is currently being run by "the chinese" who seem to just "wanta your money". Actually they are Thai persons connected with Mr Tom.. as far as I understand it. I last went to "Appleby's Chinatown" bar in March but the general atmosphere was not so good and so I left PDQ to Riane's new Monday Night little soiree up in Notting Hill. You may want to check out "Riane at the Leinster" a new Monday night venue in West London. Unsurprisingly Riane was also barred from the Philbeach. Not that she is too worried about that!"

Here you find all any night of the week. Suits and Ties straight from the office or sometimes just underwear code. Company Directors, Chairmen, Military Officers and all ranks (from around the World), the legal profession , a few famous - you name it - and of course the tranny's (some of whom of course fit into the above categories) plus some TS's like myself and there really are some gorgeous girls.

"Lipstick" was a venue held every Monday evening at Jimmy's Bar (also nicknamed Appleby's Bar after James Appleby who has run it for the last twenty five years or so). Jimmy's Bar is located at The Philbeach Hotel in Earls Court, London (Full Address and contact numbers - see Below). Lipstick provides an opportunity for TV's and TS's to intermingle socially with others including Admirers (The Tranny Admirers) and TG's from all over the World. Many straight and Gay people also get down there as the atmosphere can be magical as well as International - On dress code just about anything goes so if you are a first time out TV don't be shy and rest assured discretion is 200%. I can personally assure you of a very warm welcome however nervous you may feel about yourself.

Check out "The Theme Nights", a regular selection of different venues. Jimmy's is a place where anyone can go whether straight or gay - it doesn't matter - and Jimmy's Bar is open seven nights a week.

Crissy's Verdict:- "without James Appleby "Jimmy" this venue would become history. Support him!"

"The old Monday night "Lipstick" had become a mess. Too much noise and too many professional "Girls of the Night" looking for the next buck had altogether ruined the place. After many complaints from local neighbours the police finally took action and forced the Monday night Lipstick to close. The new replacement Monday night venue is a different ball game and frankly better. "

All of my friends really enjoy themselves when they go to Jimmy's Bar and the place is very safe - no worries. In the summer, weather permitting you can relax with a drink outside on the terrace or in the beautiful little garden which is painstakingly looked after by James.

Verdict: - The best TG place to chill out.

There is always a free buffet of superb nibbles and a small dance floor although the music is laid back and very sophisticated. It is a meeting place - a Bar with extraordinary merits. Upstairs for those that require a more formal dinner is located "The Thai Princess", an excellent Thai Restuarant which is totally TG & Gay friendly and where you will served by gorgeous Thai ladyboys.

So all you TV's get down there and enjoy yourselves in a very free environment. A bit of a fantasy land apart from the dodgy stairs! Jimmy's is a great place to meet friends before going on to Stormes and the Way Out. Lifts and friendly taxis are always available. Also check out Theme Nights held on various nights.

Anne's Dressing Service

This service has been operating at The Philbeach Hotel for very many years and Anne is well known and loved in the TG Community. Altghough now retired Anne's is run by Sandra and Sybil. The service offers TV's the opportunity of discreet dressing in a relaxed atmosphere and she provides everything: Full Makeover - Wigs - Dresses - Breastforms - Shoes - Clothes of All Types In fact a vast wardrobe for the discerning TV. They also give advice on image, female deportment and presentation. Anne's Dressing Service is the best in London and has one extra advantage:- When you are dressed where do you Go ? - The answer is 30 yards into Jimmy's Bar for a drink if you feel like it - Why Not !! - and on a Monday evening of course to Lipstick.

You can bring your own clothes if you prefer or just sit back and let the lovely Sandra or Sybil transform you into the gorgeous woman you always wanted to be. An afternoon/evening of magical fun and good company for about £40 - What more do you want ?
