and a little wacky!

For 30 years the Anarkali has resided on King St Hammersmith and only 3 minutes from Hammersmith Broadway. This is a very special restaurant and indeed has become an institution in London. It's close proximity to the BBC television center has attracted a host of well known people over the years and famous faces abound almost every evening. The restaurant was re-launched five years ago with the party of Bollywood parties hosted by Virgin's Richard Branson.

Owner and chef de maison Mr Raffique has a history of loving everything wacky [having formerly lived in Los Angeles!] so that the restaurant's normal looking facade actually is a cloak of subtle deception. This is not your average normal curry house!

You are always guaranteed a most warm and personal welcome here and there is no dress code. Tranny's, inbetweenies and the gay community in general are very welcome and it's location only 15 minutes from Jimmy's Bar makes it a favorite for first time outers to test their passing skills over a chicken vindaloo or a more exotic house special dish all personally cooked by Mr Raffique. This is a nice restaurant to chill out in and parking is usually no problem right outside.

At the end of your meal and in true Anarkali tradition Mr Raffique will usually come to your table for a quick chat and to ask if you enjoyed the food. This is a great place for admirers to take a TG girl out to whilst feeling entirely comfortable with both the people and the surroundings.

The restaurant offers a neat fusion bar and eatery combined. Downstairs there is function area for private parties or tables and which is always available at very short notice for the asking. The menu contains all the usual favorites and some dishes you will never have heard of. The quality of this kitchen and master chef Raffique's cullinery skill is outstanding and this sets it apart from almost any other Indian restaurant I have been to including London's only two michelin star Indian restaurants which are located in Mayfair. The only difference is the cost ... at Anarkali you will pay very normal prices. Even the house wine is well chosen and extremely drinkable unlike many restaurants I can think of!
